Gaming headsets require some of the most dynamic qualities that average stereo headsets won’t have, which isn’t because they’re low quality, but because gamers have a different set of challenges to deal with than everyday people just listening to music, for example. One of the latest, much-anticipated releases is the HyperX Cloud Revolver Gaming Headset by Kingston. We’re going to take a closer look at it to see what it can offer.
The quality of audio is a very important aspect that’ll immerse you into the true excitement of your game, with deep bass and clear, dynamic and realistic loud sounds. You also have to be able to hear your teammates with as much clarity as possible, which means an effective microphone with matching audio quality, so we’ll cover that as well.
A great gaming headset will also have good comfort and durability so that whether you’re playing for continuous hours at a time or just taking a twenty minute session, it fits comfortably and lasts over the years with the same amount of reliability from the day you first started using it.
Each of these qualities are important, however price and appearance do play a major part- you’ll have the opportunity to look comprehensively at all of these qualities, as well as what makes the Kingston HyperX Cloud Revolver Gaming Headset truly different and unique.
Advanced Gaming Audio
The HyperX Cloud Revolver uses a 50 millimeter driver on each side, which many people may think is quite small when compared to other headphones, however they’re actually enhanced for greater quality.
Each driver is designed specifically to provide the perfect positioning for your ear, so that the sound can easily travel effectively in order to deliver a superior quality of bass, as well as clearer audio, whether there’s loud explosions or faint sounds in the distance.
If you’ve ever play first person shooter games like Call of Duty, or open world games like Fallout 4, you probably know how much of a difference effective sound makes. It’s not just the positioning of the speakers (as with surround sound) that makes the experience seem so much more realistic and exhilarating, but also the realism in the range of sounds available to you from your headset.
The HyperX Cloud Revolver headset is capable of producing a sound stage with as much range as the headphones that professional studio engineers use, to provide the depth and area required to hear beautiful symphonies or a battlefield, with clear and precise sound. This way, when someone sneaks past you in an FPS, you’ll have a greater understanding of just how far away they are from you, and in which direction.
Versatile Detachable Microphone
The microphone is a very important aspect of any gaming headset, and while a low-end mic is certainly better than no mic at all, this same logic makes effective microphones even more desirable.
The Kingston HyperX Cloud Revolver offers noise cancelling in order to keep out unwanted background noise and to further immerse yourself into the true and realistic gaming experience.
One of the advantages of going a step up and choosing a headset like this one, is because you aren’t sacrificing anything when you consider that you can completely detach the microphone right from the headset. It doesn’t give anything away in durability, as it’s flexible and designed to be that way. It’s meant to make your life easier by being able to custom-position the mic at your desired preference, as well as completely remove it for a relaxing time listening to music.
Steel Frame and Memory Foam Ear Cups
Now, none of the other qualities mean anything unless your headset can endure a little bit of wear and tear, and continue to perform as they did when you first got them.
Kingston has designed the HyperX Cloud Revolver with a strong steel frame that provides the structural integrity to hold up well over the years, without comprimise. Some headset manufacturers tend to put the build quality as a lower priority, with flimsy materials that warp and break over the duration of time. That really isn’t the case here.
While this headset is by no means cheap, you won’t have to make that sacrifice, since the frame is truly well-designed just like the simple, yet advanced technology integrated into them to make them sound loud and clear with as much depth, verbosity and realism as possible.
Not to mention the fact that the metallic black frame and gear shaped base look really attractive. There’s red and black HyperX symbol on the sides denoting quality performance, comfort and durability – the ear cups are something to see.
Better said, they’re something to feel because they’re made of memory foam with premium leatherette exterior that’s been conditioned to match your ears and head through everyday use, and feel very comfortable and true-to-fit in the process.
Compatibility and Overall Quality
When looking at any gaming headset, if it discriminates against for favorite gaming console, it can virtually eliminate the ability to use it with any of the games you actually want to play.
This of course, is completely unacceptable which is why the HyperX Cloud Revolver is fully, universally compatible with virtually any modern system that you’d like to use it with.
You can use it with all of the major next-gen gaming platforms, including PC, Mac, Xbox One, PS4, Wii U and even mobile phones, making the added durability even more valuable, since it can be solely used as your personal on-the-go headphones.
Looking again at the microphone capability, it’s one thing to be compatible and another to be certified to be of genuine quality.
TeamSpeak, a well know, reputable chat client, has deemed the HyperX Cloud Revolver headset to be of immense quality, providing clarity, robustness, and high level sound operation without annoying echoes, interruptions or noticeable distortions when using the mic.
On the topic of compatibility, other chat clients, such as Discord, Skype, Ventrilo, Mumble and Raidcall have given Kingston Technology the “thumbs up”, that these provide a quality chat experience.
Final Thoughts
Kingston has release two predecessors to this gaming headset which were both quite effective, but since both didn’t use the same sound performance technology as the new HyperX Cloud Revolver, you really can’t get the latest features that they’ve worked so hard to release. However, all three have time-tested, quality designs that provide a rich game/chat experience without any hassles.
What makes the Kingston HyperX Cloud Revolver Headset more advanced and different, is the inclusion of newly-enhanced drivers that, while smaller, provide a greater range and quality of sound, and are also titled perfectly to match the human ear, and provide targeted audio that sounds great.
Initially, it may even seem like you’re actually stepping down from the Cloud II to the Cloud Revolver due to the lack of surround sound in the latter, however once listening in game, you’ll hear the outstanding difference that the enhanced drivers make.
What’s also important to note is that while all three include premium leatherette memory foam ear cups, the Cloud Revolver doesn’t actually have a memory foam head band, it sits comfortable on your head, and is more stable and durable due to the unique steel frame.
Compatibility is also a very strong point for the HyperX Cloud Revolver headset, because it works on virtually any and every gaming console or computer, so you won’t ever have to buy a headset that’s specific towards just one system.
Overall, the price is set quite fairly and it does compromise in some areas, but it’s a great example of how quality, simple, yet effective technology can create even greater advantages than once thought of.
